Week 267 (30th September 2022)

Now that the summer break is over Josh, Ted and Adam have started hockey training for the new season.

At the start of the training session the three boys help the coach get the equipment out.

Josh, Ted and Adam have thirty balls altogether.

If Ted gives five balls to Adam, Adam gives four to Josh and Josh gives two to Ted, then the three boys will each have the same number of balls.

Can you work out how many balls Josh had to start with?

Answer:

J + 4 – 2 = 30/3

Therefore J = 10 –4 + 2 = 8

(NB A = 9 and T = 13)
