Week 339 (22nd March 2024)

A skiing trip has been organised for students during the Easter holidays.

214 people are going on the trip.

The people going on the trip are either teachers or students.

There are 14 teachers going on the trip.

35% of the students going on the trip have their own ski boots.

Find the number of students who do not have their own ski boots.

Answer:

If there are 214 total people on the school trip and 14 are teachers, then 200 must be students.

To find 35% of 200 we can do … 200 x 0.35 = 70, meaning 70 students have their own ski boots.

To find the number of students who do not have their own ski boots we can do 200 – 70 = 130
