Week 269 (14th October 2022)

Ben and Tom both work at a garden centre.

Last week Ben worked for 30 hours and was paid £318.00.

Tom worked for 28 hours last week and was paid £287.00.

Ben is paid more per hour than Tom.

Can you work out how much more Ben is paid per hour than Tom?

Answer:

Ben’s hourly rate = 318/30 = 10.60
Tom’s hourly rate = 287/28 = 10.25

10.60 – 10.25 = 0.35

So, Ben is paid 35 pence more than Tom
