On both Thursday and Friday, he worked for half as long as each of the first three days.  

Noah did not work on Saturday or Sunday.  

Work out how many hours Noah worked on Friday? 

Answer: 

Let each Monday to Wednesday be x 

Total for first 3 days:  3x 

Thursday and Friday are each:  x/2 

Total week:    3x + x/2 + x/2 = 4x 

4x = 42 

X = 10.5 

Friday:    x/2 = 5.25 (or 5 hours 15 minutes)
