A triathlon has three events. 

• Event 1 is worth 50 points.  

• Event 2 is worth 80 points.  

• Event 3 is worth 70 points.  

The three scores are added together to give a total score out of 200. 

Ethan scored 72% in Event 1 and 65% in Event 2. 

Find the score Ethan needs in Event 3 to achieve 75% of the total points. 

Answer: 

Target score: 75% x 200 = 150 

Event 1: 72% x 50 = 36 

Event 2: 65% x 80 = 52 

Needed in event 3: 150 – 36 – 52 = 62 points
