Tim buys 3kg of rice at £4.20 per kg.  

He also buys 7kg of pasta.  

The total cost is £44.10.  

What is the cost of 1kg of pasta?  

Answer:  

Cost of rice:  

3 x 4.20 = 12.60  

Money left for pasta:  

44.10 – 12.60 = 31.50  

Cost per kg of pasta:  

31.50 / 7 = 4.50  

 £4.50 per kg
