Week 419 (7th November 2025)

Ryan is at a fireworks display with his friends.

He buys 4 cones of chips at £1.30 each and 2 toffee apples (all the toffee apples on the stall are priced the same).

It’s cash only so Ryan pays with a £10 note.

He gets £1.80 change.

How much does Ryan pay for each toffee apple?

Answer:

First work out how much Ryan paid for the cones of chips by multiplying £1.30 by 4 to get £5.20

Next find out how much Ryan paid in total by doing £10 – £1.80 = £8.20

The difference between the two values is the amount spent on the toffee apples

Therefore, £3 = 2 toffee apples

Price of 1 toffee apple= £1.50
