Week 393 (9th May 2025)

A Fractional Finance Director works for a SME that supplies copper pipes.

The factory is currently working on a large order for an overseas client.

Each machine makes the same length of copper pipe in a day.

3 machines can make the copper pipe needed for the large order in 25 days.

The client would like the order as soon as possible. Find the number of machines needed to make the order in 15 days.

Answer:

First find how many machines it would take to complete the order in one day by multiplying 3 by 25 to get 75 machines.

Then divide 75 by 15 to find how many machines are needed to complete it in 15 days to get 75/15 = 5
