Our founder, Kate Clarke, qualified as both a chartered accountant and corporate tax advisor in her earlier career. Kate has worked in a number of finance, tax and operational roles at various levels in practice and industry, so she is well placed to understand the requirements of finance roles at all levels – from both a technical and cultural perspective.

Being an independent recruitment specialist our staff are not remunerated using a commission structure and we are not driven by targets. Accordingly for us it is not a numbers game. We would prefer to put forward just one high quality candidate rather than bombarding our clients with several very average CVs. Specifically we:

Recognise the importance of cultural fit We like to get to know what motivates our candidates and understand the sort of environment they like to work in. Similarly we explore with our clients what type of personality would work well in their organisation.


Upon appointment we will arrange an initial meeting with you to discuss the requirements of the role in detail. Where there is a technical element to the role, (for example where strong Excel skills are required), we can develop a bespoke test to be used as part of the selection process. As standard we test all our candidates for competency in accounting.

We will then use a combination of proactive head-hunting, networking and research, using our own database of contacts, to identify suitable potential candidates. We will also use a number of social media channels to promote the vacancies.

You will then be able to meet the shortlisted candidates with the knowledge that they have not only been interviewed by us, but have also passed the standard or relevant bespoke technical test.

For senior roles we would recommend doing a full psychological assessment on the shortlisted candidate. We work with a qualified business psychologist who will assess, amongst other things, the candidate’s ability to handle complexity, to think strategically, to interact with others and their ability to handle conflict. By doing a series of tests, and using probing questions based on the results of these tests, a clear picture of the candidate’s personality will emerge and this can help with the final decision.
