Week 366 (11th October 2024)

Jamie is organising the food and drink for an annual conference.

Jamie needs to work out much coffee is needed for 800 people.

He assumes 68% of the people will drink coffee.

10.6g of coffee is needed for each cup of coffee.

Jamie assumes that each person who drinks coffee will drink 2 cups of coffee.

Using his assumptions, work out the amount of coffee Jamie needs to the nearest gram.

Answer:

Since everyone is drinking 2 cups of coffee then you need to multiply 10.6 by 2 to find the total grams of coffee at 21.2g

Then find 68% of 800 by doing 0.68 x 800 which is 544 people drinking coffee.

Then multiply them together so 544 x 21.2 = 11532.8 or 11533g
