Week 279 (6th January 2023)

Matt’s New Year’s resolution is to spend more time doing the things that he loves.

Two of his favourite activities are running and cycling.

To put his resolution into action Matt cycled a distance of 30km at an average speed of 24 km/h and then ran a distance of 12 km at an average speed of 8 km/h.

Work out the total time Matt took in hours and minutes for both activities.

Answer:

Time = distance/ speed

So, time taken to cycle 30km = 30/24 = 1.25 hrs

Time taken to run 12km = 12/8 = 1.5hrs

So total time = 2.75hrs = 2 hrs 45 minutes
